Friars hold off Hampton, top Pirates 60-51

The Providence College basketball team survived another close non-conference game, defeating Hampton, 60-51 Tuesday night at the Amica Mutual Pavilion.
The Friars were down eight at halftime, but opened the second half with a 15-4 run to take the lead.

The Pirates kept things close, but Providence outscored Hampton 13-4 in the final five minutes to secure the win.
“We’re going to be able to find five (players) that are tough enough,” said head coach Kim English. “I’ll call timeouts if they need rest. We are incredibly deep, we have a lot of players but if there’s not separation and playing hard enough in that depth, that rotation will shrink.”
Bensley Joseph and Jayden Pierre each added 13 points, while Wesley Cardet finished with ten.
